Connect to your Alation account to generate a refresh token

Learn how to connect to Alation and generate a refresh token for API integration.

You need to have the Alation connector and a Reltio Integration Hub (RIH) license to configure and use the OOTB Alation integration in our tenant. Please reach out to your Reltio Account Executive or Renewal Representative for licensing needs.

You need to Connect to your Reltio tenant for Alation, before moving on to this configuration.

If you have RIH and Alation connector licenses in your Reltio contract, the Alation connector recipes and connections will be deployed to your tenant's RIH instance.
  1. Connect to your Alation account
By doing this, a refresh token is generated, securely maintaining your Alation integration access.
    1. Enter the connection details in Connection to Alation User Account connector, in the '_connections' folder
      • Connection type - Cloud
      • Authentication type - None
      • Endpoint has case-sensitive headers? - No
      • Base URL - Base URL of your Alation account
      • Use custom TLS/SSL certificate settings - No

    2. Select Connect.
The status changes to Connected and the button to Disconnect when the connection is established.
  2. Open Alation | Generate refresh token recipe and select on Edit.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the recipe and select Configuration Parameters > Custom Properties.
  4. On the Custom Properties enter Alation User Name and Alation Password, and Save the recipe.
  5. Select Test recipe.
  6. Once the Test job successfully completes, go to the last step of the job Log message to Job report to fetch the user_id and refresh token.
Please note down the user_id and refresh token, as they are required for the Alation API connector.
You're now ready to Connect to your Alation account to sync Reltio metadata.
