Configure conditional attributes

Learn how to create conditions for a control attribute

Configure conditional attributes for the Type of Service control attribute in the Data Modeler.

To configure conditional attributes:
  1. In the Console, select Data Modeler.
  2. In the Data Modeler left navigation pane, select Entity types.
  3. In the Entity types page, select the entity type for which you want to configure conditional attributes.
  4. In the entity type Attributes tab, select the Conditions tab.
    Note: If this is the first time you are creating conditions for an attribute, you will see a blank page with the Create New button as shown below. If you have already created conditions, you will see the existing conditions in this tab.

  5. Select Create new.
  6. In the Add condition - Conditional attributes page, specify the conditions for a control attribute.
    1. In the Label field, enter the name of the condition you are about to configure. This is the name displayed in the Condition tab.
    2. In the Name field, enter the name of the condition you are about to configure. This will be part of URI.
    3. In the Control attribute, select the attribute based on whose value conditionals attributes are to be displayed.
      Note: A control attribute can only be a simple attribute, .
    4. In the Value field, type the values of the control attribute based on which conditional attributes are to be displayed. For RDM attributes, enter the canonical values.
    5. Select the +Condition to add more control attributes for the conditional attributes to be displayed.
    6. In the Conditional attributes field, select the attributes that must be displayed when the conditions configured above are satisfied.
      Note: You can choose a simple, nested, or a reference attribute as a conditional attribute. You cannot choose a sub-attribute of a nested attribute as a conditional attribute. You must select the entire nested attribute.

      The Summary field displays a summary of the conditions and conditional attributes configured above. Summary field.

    7. Select Save. You will return to the Conditions tab with a message indicating the condition was successfully created,
  7. In the Conditions tab, view the conditions that you configured. Select +New Condition to configure a new condition for a control attribute.
  8. Back to the Attributes tab, view the icon next to the Type of service attribute, which denotes that it is a control attribute, and a new Conditional column that contains a check mark for any conditional attributes.
    Note: When you create a profile for the selected entity type, the conditional attributes are visible only when the condition is fulfilled. In our example here, the conditional attributes (address and phone) are displayed only if you select the Type of Service as Direct/Indirect and Country code is India or USA.
