View multiple parent paths in a hierarchy

Learn how to view multiple parent paths in a hierarchy to understand how an entity is connected to its parent entities.

An entity in a hierarchy can have more than one parent, resulting in multiple paths to the same entity. Viewing these paths helps you understand the entity's relationships with its parent entities and its position within the hierarchy.

The Hierarchy tab displays one of these paths in the hierarchy tree. For entities with multiple parents, you can view the available parent paths and select the path you want to display in the hierarchy tree.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you meet the following requirements:

To view multiple parent paths in a hierarchy
  1. In Hub, select the profile you want to view.
  2. In the Profile view, select the Hierarchy tab.
  3. From the Hierarchy type list, select the hierarchy you want to view.
  4. In the hierarchy tree, locate an entity with the Show parents icon next to its name. The icon indicates that the entity has more than one parent.
  5. Select the Show parents icon.

    The Profile details panel opens on the right pane and lists each path to the entity. Each path shows the parent name and a shortened path to the entity.

  6. In the Profile details panel, select a path. The hierarchy tree displays the selected path, which is also highlighted in Profile details.
  7. To close the Profile details panel, select the X icon.
Result

The hierarchy tree now displays the selected path. You can select a different path at any time to switch the tree view.
