Reltio Ontology Builder

Learn about how Reltio Ontology Builder helps you explore Reltio industry models and map source schemas to the Reltio data model without logging in to Reltio or setting up a tenant.

Reltio Ontology Builder is an agentic experience on the Reltio website that helps you translate existing data schemas into a Reltio-ready canonical model. It uses an AI agent and large language model (LLM) capabilities to analyze schemas from your current MDM platform or custom systems and suggest mappings to Reltio model components.

You can also review Reltio velocity packs to explore entities, relationships, attributes, and match rules before implementation begins. The generated ontology organizes entities, relationships, and interactions into a shared, machine-readable model that supports downstream implementation planning and AI-driven use cases.

Reltio Ontology Builder supports two primary modeling tasks:

Roles and use cases

Reltio Ontology Builder is designed for business and technical teams that evaluate or design data models before implementation. It is relevant for:

  • Solution Architect
  • Business User
  • Data Product Owner
  • Partners and system integrators supporting modernization assessments
  • Customer teams adding a new data domain

The experience helps you compare your existing model structures with Reltio velocity packs, review industry-specific model examples, and align stakeholders on a proposed model design.

Key Features

Reltio Ontology Builder supports model review and schema mapping through the following features:

  • Diagram and list views for reviewing Reltio canonical model.
  • Model selector for reviewing available industry specific prebuilt velocity packs.
  • Source schema upload for generating suggested mappings to the Reltio data model.
  • Detail panel for reviewing attributes, derived attributes, match logic, survivorship, cleansers, and validation information.
  • Download option for saving the generated schema output.

How model exploration works

Reltio Ontology Builder provides diagram and list views for reviewing entity types, relationship types, interaction types, reference data, attributes, and model logic.

Model exploration includes the following components:

  • Entity types, such as individuals, organizations, products, suppliers, accounts, or industry-specific entities.
  • Relationship types, such as affiliations, ownership, hierarchies, and customer-product relationships.
  • Attributes and nested attributes that define the data captured for each entity or relationship.
  • Interaction types that represent events, activities, or business interactions.
  • Match rules and survivorship logic associated with the selected model.
  • Reference data associated with the selected model.

Industry model exploration helps you review a possible future-state model before implementation work begins. It also helps business and technical stakeholders understand how Reltio organizes entities, relationships, and supporting model logic.

Source schema mapping

When you upload a source schema, Reltio Ontology Builder analyzes the schema structure and suggests mappings to Reltio model components. Source schemas comes from legacy MDM platforms, source applications, custom data models, or industry data standards.

The mapping process identifies source model constructs and suggests corresponding Reltio model components, including:

  • Source entities that align with Reltio entity types.
  • Source attributes that align with Reltio attributes or nested attributes.
  • Source relationships that align with Reltio relationship types.
  • Source events or activity structures that align with Reltio interaction types.
  • Source structures that need additional review before they can align with the target model.

You can review suggested mappings before downloading the generated schema output. Suggested mappings provide a structured starting point for model design discussions and implementation planning.

Industry and domain velocity packs

Reltio Ontology Builder supports exploration of Reltio velocity packs for industry and domain use cases. Velocity packs show how Reltio represents domain-specific entities, relationships, attributes, and supporting model logic.

Available velocity packs include:

  • B2B
  • B2C
  • FinServ
  • Healthcare
  • Insurance
  • LifeSciences

Use velocity packs to compare existing data structures with Reltio model patterns and identify a starting point for model design and implementation planning.

Downloadable model artifacts

Reltio Ontology Builder generates downloadable schema output that supports model review and implementation planning. Generated output can include:

  • A visual representation of the mapped model.
  • A mapping summary between source schema components and Reltio model components.
  • A downloadable schema artifact.

Validate generated model artifacts before using them as part of tenant configuration.

Data privacy considerations

Because Reltio Ontology Builder accepts schema-level inputs, use sanitized schemas and avoid confidential, regulated, or production-sensitive data unless your organization’s data handling policies allow it.
