Clone a hierarchy in the Profile view

Learn how to clone a hierarchy so that you can create a new hierarchy from an existing structure in the Hierarchy tab.

In the Hierarchy tab, you can create a new hierarchy by reusing an existing hierarchy structure instead of rebuilding it manually.

Prerequisites
Before you continue, make sure the following prerequisites are met:
To clone an existing hierarchy:
  1. In the Hub, search and select a profile that you want to view.
  2. In the Profile view, select the Hierarchy tab.
  3. From the Hierarchy type dropdown, select the hierarchy instance you want to clone.
  4. Select the More options icon, and then select Clone hierarchy.
    1. In the Target hierarchy field, select the hierarchy type for the cloned hierarchy.
    2. In the Hierarchy name field, enter a name for the cloned hierarchy.
    3. Select Enable versioning to create the cloned hierarchy as a versioned hierarchy.
    4. In the Version name field, enter a name for the version.
    5. In the Start date and End date fields, select the date range for which the version is valid.
    6. Select Clone hierarchy. A confirmation message indicating the successful creation of the clone is displayed.
Result

The cloned hierarchy is created and appears in the Hierarchy tab for review and further updates. The hierarchy connections from the source hierarchy are cloned automatically.

Verification steps

  1. From the Hierarchy type list, select the newly cloned hierarchy.

  2. Confirm that its node structure matches the source hierarchy at the time of cloning.
