Import a hierarchy in the Profile view

Learn how to import a hierarchy so that you can create a hierarchy structure from an import file instead of adding it manually.

Prerequisites:

You must have the ROLE_API or MDM.Data.Hr permission (for custom roles) assigned to you
You must enable hierarchy in the tenant configuration. For more information, see Configure tenant business settings for hierarchy.
You must enable hierarchy in the UI configuration. For more information, see Configure UI settings for the Hierarchy tab.
You must have access to a hierarchy template.

Note: This feature is currently available only in AWS environments. Support for GCP and Azure will be available in a future release.

Use this task when a profile does not yet have a hierarchy and you want to load the hierarchy structure from a supported .csv or .json import file.

To import a hierarchy

In the Hub, select the profile you want to view.
In the Profile view, select the Hierarchy tab.

Note: If no hierarchy exists for the profile, the tab shows an empty state with the message Create your first hierarchy with options to create a new hierarchy or import a hierarchy.
Select +New Hierarchy and then select Import from file.
1. In the Import hierarchy dialog, select DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE to get the import template.
2. Open the downloaded file and enter your hierarchy data.
3. In the Select file area, drag the completed file into the dialog, or select BROWSE to locate the file.
4. Select IMPORT HIERARCHY.

Result

After the import is complete, the hierarchy instance appears in the Hierarchy tab and is available for review and further updates.
