Add a hierarchy in the Profile view

Learn how to add a hierarchy so that you can create a new hierarchy instance for a selected entity and start building its structure in the Hierarchy tab.

Prerequisites:
Note: This feature is currently available only in AWS environments. Support for GCP and Azure will be available in a future release.
Create a new hierarchy when you need to organize an entity within a hierarchy type, prepare a hierarchy for future updates, or create a new versioned hierarchy instance.
To add a hierarchy
  1. In the Hub, select the profile you want to view.
  2. In the Profile view, select the Hierarchy tab.

    If no hierarchy exists for the profile, the tab shows an empty state with options to create a new hierarchy or import a hierarchy.

  3. Select +New Hierarchy and then select Create.
    1. From the Hierarchy type dropdown, select the type of hierarchy you want to create. The hierarchy types must be configured in the tenant business configuration, and the current entity type must be included in the allowedEntityTypes list for that hierarchy type.
    2. In the Hierarchy name field, enter a name for the hierarchy.
    3. To create a versioned hierarchy, select Enable versioning .
    4. In the Version name field, enter a name for the version.
    5. In the Start Date and End Date field, select the date range for which the version is valid.
    6. Under Initial connection to entity name, select Add child or Add parent.
    7. Select the entity for the initial connection..
    8. Select Save.

Result

The new hierarchy instance is created and is available in the Hierarchy tab for further updates.
