DEA Source File and Format
The DEA Data Tenant is updated from the DEA Active Registrant source files.
The DEA Active Registrants is a weekly file that contains
all the active entities that are to be updated on the Data Tenant. This includes all
prescribers that have active DEA license number.
Note: The database is used to credential practitioners as well as to certify a
practitioner’s CSA status. It is extremely useful to HMOs, clinics, health
insurance, pharmaceutical, and medical services firms, and others who must
verify that a practitioner is registered to handle controlled substances.
