Analyze DQ dashboard charts

Learn how to use common UI controls to analyze charts in the Real-Time Data Quality dashboard.

Examine the data quality of selected attributes in various charts in the Real-Time Data Quality (DQ) dashboard. This topic describes the general features and functionality available in dashboard charts. For more information on selecting a chart, see topic Select an attribute type. For details about the contents of specific charts, see topic Real-Time Data Quality dashboard charts.

To analyze data in DQ charts:
  1. Select the entity and attribute whose data quality you want to examine. For more information, see topic View an Entity overview.
  2. In the Entity-level charts area, scroll down to view the charts available for the selected attribute. For details on available charts, see topic Real-Time Data Quality dashboard charts.
  3. Use the following UI controls to examine chart details:
    • Information icon

Select the information icon next to the chart title to display a tooltip providing details about the chart's purpose.

    • Metric drill-down

Select a metric on the chart to drill down to records relevant to the chart. This takes you to the Advanced search page, where you can manage records of interest. For more information, see topic Exploring the Advanced Search.

    • Metric tooltip

Hover your pointer over a specific metric to display a tooltip with additional information about the displayed values.

    • Time period selection

      Attention:

These date range options apply only to DQ charts that track data over time. For more information, see topics Fill rate over time, Profiles with invalid data over time, and Uniqueness analysis over time.

Specify the date range to view chart information for a specific period in one of the following ways:
      • Date picker: Select a date range from this drop-down at the top-right corner of the page:
        • Last 7 Days: Seven days before the current date. For example, if the current date is 25-Jul, then days from 19-25 Jul display.
        • Last month: One month before the current date. For example, if the current date is 25-Jul, then days from 25-Jun through 25-Jul display.
        • Last 6 months: Six months before the current date. For example, if the current month is July, then June, May, April, March, and Feb display.
        • Last year: One year before the current date.
        • Pick date: A custom date range you specify on the calendar. Select a time period up to the current date. If you select an end date before the current date, the Today line changes to show the date range.
      • Note:

The date and timestamp attributes are formatted depending on your location. For more information, see topic Frequency analysis.

      • Time period
      • Mouse zoom: Hold down the left mouse button and swipe left or right across a portion of a chart to zoom into that time period.

When you specify a time period, the chart details refresh to display details for the selected period. For example, if you switch the time period from Last 7 days to Last 6 months in the Date picker, the horizontal x-axis values change from days to months. If you select several days within an existing time period of Last month with your mouse, the horizontal x-axis values zooms into the selected days.

    • Today or date

Today changes to reflect the last date selected, when it is not the current date.
