Create a hierarchy type

Learn how to create a hierarchy type so that it is available for Materialized hierarchy in the tenant.

You can define a new materialized hierarchy type in Data Modeler for a specific set of entity types.

Prerequisites
Before you continue, make sure the following prerequisites are met:
  • You have access to the Data Modeler application in Console
  • You have access to the Data Modeler application in Console.
  • The entity types you want to associate with the hierarchy type already exist.
To add a hierarchy type:
  1. In the Console, select Data Modeler.
  2. In the Data Modeler, select Hierarchy types from the left navigation pane. A list of hierarchy types is displayed.
  3. Select Create New.
  4. Enter the required values.
    FieldDescription
    NameEnter a unique identifier for the hierarchy type. This value forms part of the configuration URI configuration/hierarchyTypes/<Name> and cannot be changed after you save the hierarchy type.
    Display nameEnter the label shown for this hierarchy type in the Profile view.
    Entity typesSelect the entity types that this hierarchy type applies to.
  5. Select Save.
Result

The new hierarchy type appears in the Hierarchy types list with its name, display name, and associated entity types.

Verification steps

  1. In the Hub, select a profile belonging to one of the entity types you added for the hierarchy type.

  2. Go to the Hierarchy tab.

  3. Confirm that the new hierarchy type appears in the Hierarchy type dropdown list.
