FAQ on Reltio MCP Server
Learn answers to common questions about the Reltio Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, its editions, use cases, and strategic value.
Overview and definitions
- What is Model Context Protocol (MCP)?
- MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open, standardized protocol designed to connect AI models — such as LLMs and AI assistants — to external tools, data sources, and services in a unified, flexible, and secure way. For more information, see modelcontextprotocol.io.
- What is Reltio MCP Server?
- Reltio MCP Server is an implementation of MCP that allows AI agents and LLMs to securely access trusted, real-time data in the Reltio platform.
- How does it work in simple terms?
- MCP acts as a universal connector — like an API for AI agents — that allows developers to enable AI systems to access Reltio data without building custom integrations or RAG pipelines.
- What problem does it solve?
- It simplifies access to real-time, governed enterprise data for AI agents. This reduces integration complexity and accelerates AI time-to-value.
- How does Reltio use MCP internally?
- Reltio is adopting MCP to unlock contextual data for AI agents and to enable intelligent, automated data operations within the platform.
Agentic capabilities and AI
- What are agentic capabilities?
- Agentic capabilities refer to the ability of AI agents to independently perform tasks — like claim processing or sales planning — by interacting with data and systems.
- What are Data Governance Agents?
- These are AI agents that automate data management functions such as match resolution, change requests, and data quality tasks, reducing human involvement.
- Will MCP Server replace existing Reltio features?
- No. MCP augments the Reltio platform by enabling more advanced, intelligent, and autonomous workflows alongside existing automation.
Availability and editions
- When will Reltio MCP Server be available?
- The Developer Edition is available starting May 8 in our Bitbucket repository: reltio-mcp-server-developer-edition. The Reltio-hosted Enterprise Edition will follow later.
- What is the Developer Edition?
- An open-source, self-hosted version of MCP that allows customers and partners to start experimenting with agentic applications.
- Is there a cost associated with MCP?
- The Developer Edition is free. The Enterprise (cloud-hosted) edition is subject to a platform fee. Contact your Reltio Account Executive for pricing.
Strategic value and platform integration
- What is the value of MCP Server?
- MCP is a foundational capability for AI-powered operations. It enables customers to securely automate complex tasks using trusted data, accelerating innovation and reducing operational costs.
- How does MCP relate to Reltio's data graph?
- The data graph organizes trusted, contextual data in the Reltio platform. MCP Server allows AI agents to query and act on this graph in real time.
- Why is MCP important to Reltio's future?
- MCP is central to Reltio’s AI strategy. It provides customers with tools to power intelligent, automated applications using governed, real-time data — anchoring Reltio in the agentic AI era.
