Hierarchy perspective
Learn about how the Hierarchy perspective in the Profile view helps you explore, manage, and compare hierarchy structures for an entity, including hierarchy versions and effective-date views.
The Hierarchy perspective in the Profile view lets you review and manage hierarchy data for a selected entity. It brings together the hierarchy instances associated with that entity so you can understand where the entity sits in a structure, review related branches, and manage hierarchy changes in context.
The Hierarchy perspective supports the following actions::
-
View the hierarchy instances associated with an entity.
-
Create or import a hierarchy structure.
-
Add parent and child connections to extend a hierarchy, along with their start and end dates
-
Move or copy a hierarchy branch from one one node to another within the same hierarchy instance.
-
Delete a hierarchy or a node in the hierarchy
-
Work with multiple versions of the same hierarchy when versioning is enabled.
-
Review hierarchy data using an effective date so that the displayed structure matches the required business timeframe.
The Hierarchy perspective depends on both backend and UI setup. Tenant business configuration defines the hierarchy types available to the tenant and the entity types that can use them. UI configuration controls whether and where the Hierarchy tab appears in the Profile view for a given entity type and which users can access it. For more information, see Configure tenant business settings for hierarchy and Configure UI settings for the Hierarchy tab.
