Enrichment support for Shell (Parent) records

Learn how Reltio handles enrichment for Parent (Shell) records created during D&B hierarchy enrichment.

What are Shell records?

During D&B hierarchy enrichment, Reltio may create Shell (Parent) records when a parent DUNS number is not already present in the tenant. These shell records provide structure for the hierarchy and contain only the following attributes:

  • Name
  • Address
  • DUNS Number

The shell record also includes a DUNS crosswalk that identifies it as part of the hierarchy.

Enrichment limitations

Shell records are not eligible for enrichment through standard processes:

  • SQS processing: Shell records are ignored by the queue-based enrichment process.
  • Batch processing: Shell records are excluded from batch enrichment jobs. They are skipped and logged under Batch Process Logs.
Note: Shell records exist only to maintain hierarchy relationships. They do not contain full enrichment data unless explicitly updated through downstream enrichment.
