Monitoring processing observations and statuses in D&B Data Blocks

Learn how D&B Monitoring processing behaves for different DUNS status types and how Reltio recipes handle exception files and statuses.

What is monitoring?

The monitoring feature lets you receive updates when changes occur to registered DUNS Numbers. For each registered record, D&B sends a notification file containing updated details. Reltio recipes process these files and update the tenant records accordingly.

When subscribing to monitoring, use the FULL_PRODUCT subscription type. This ensures the complete data set is returned for each DUNS Number change, enabling Reltio to apply a full update.

Supported event types

The following event types are supported in monitoring updates:

  • SEED — Updates Company Info and Diversity Insights. If a DUNS crosswalk exists, hierarchy and Principal Contacts are also updated.
  • TRANSFER — Soft deletes old D&B crosswalks, creates new ones from the retained DUNS, and re-enriches the record. Transferred details are logged in D&B Logs.
  • DELETE — Soft deletes all D&B crosswalks by adding a deleteDate.
  • UNDELETE — Removes the deleteDate from crosswalks that were previously deleted.

Other event types, such as REVIEWED, UNDER_REVIEW, ENTER, EXIT, and UPDATE, are not processed. These events are only logged in the D&B Logs file.

Failure scenarios

If records do not meet monitoring requirements, they are captured as failed records. Common scenarios include:

  • Missing DUNS attribute or crosswalk (URI:DUNS or DUNS).
  • Invalid ov flag value (must be true for SEED, TRANSFER, or DELETE events).

Handling exception files

If a monitoring job produces an EXCEPTION file, the DUNS Numbers in the file are logged in D&B Logs with an error message in the format: Error: Error Code - Description. The exception details are also populated in the tenant for review.
