Match Analysis at a glance
Learn about analyzing match rules, token phrases, and precision scores to improve entity matching accuracy and optimize tenant performance.
The number of match token phrases generated for match groups is very important for the matching process. The number of match token phrases generated has a direct impact on the performance of a match rule. The Analyze Match Rules
job analyzes the generation of match token phrases and the performance of the match rules configured in your tenant.
Analyze Match Rules
job checks for the following: - If too many tokens are generated by a subset of the processed entities than the specified threshold for the specified match groups.
- If too few tokens are generated by a subset of the processed entities than the specified threshold for the specified match groups.
To analyze the performance of match rules, this job checks the number of match pairs generated for the specified set of entities.
You can use this information to improve your tokenization scheme or tune your match rules to ensure that matching in your tenant produces the desired results.
View Summary of Match Analysis
- In Console, select the Tenant Management application.
- Select Match Analysis on the left navigation bar.
- Match token phrases analysis - reviews the distribution of token phrases generated.
- Match rules analysis - reviews the number of match pairs generated.
- Match precision score - measures the accuracy of match rules based on reviewed matches.
The image above shows the HCP entity type summary when you click the corresponding down arrow on the right.
To view detailed information, select VIEW DETAILS in the Match token phrases analysis, Match rules analysis, or Match precision score section.
Alternatively, select a tab at the top:
- MATCH TOKEN PHRASES
- MATCH RULES
- MATCH PRECISION
The RUN ANALYSIS button is available in the upper-right corner of the Match Analysis page, regardless of the tab you select. The date displayed next to this button shows when the job was last run.

View Match token phrases analysis
When you select to view the Match token phrases analysis, the following page appears:
This page provides information about the distribution of token phrases generated between the too few and too many ranges.
You can use the Entity Type and Match Rule filters to view the results of different entity types and match rule combinations.
Select the VIEW PROFILE DETAILS button above the results section to view profiling information as shown below.
Scroll down to view the list of match token phrases that contain the most entities.
The image above shows five sample entities for each token phrase. To view all entities, select VIEW MORE. A dialog appears, similar to this:
View Match rules analysis
When you select to view Match rules analysis, the following page appears:
This page provides information about the number of match pairs corresponding to the number of entities. Hover your mouse over the graph to view the exact number at that point.
You can change the entity type by using the Entity Type filter on the top right-hand corner.
Click the down arrow under the What the results mean section to view a detailed explanation about the results.
Scroll to view the list of least frequently used match rules.
When you scroll down further, the information about the overlap of match results by rule pairs is also available at the bottom as shown below.
If you are viewing Match analysis for an individual entity type and if it's FERN-enabled, the page appears as follows:
View Match precision score
This page provides information about how accurately the system identifies true matches versus false matches when comparing entity records. Hover over the graph to view precision values at each point.
You can change the entity type by using the Entity Type filter on the top right-hand corner.
