Process a single document using one time upload

Learn how to process a single document by using One time upload in Unstructured augmentation.

On the home page of Unstructured extraction, use the One Time Upload option to upload a single document, extract and map its data, and push the mapped output to a Reltio tenant. You can reuse an published extraction template. This workflow does not require a configured document source or a pipeline.

The following roles can upload and extract a document:

For role definitions, see About roles.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • You must have an active Reltio tenant with Unstructured augmentation enabled.

  • You must have permission to create document-processing runs.

  • You must have one document in a supported file format. The document that you want to process must be in one of the following formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPTX, HTML, RTF, TXT, JPEG, and PNG.

To process a single document using One Time Upload
  1. In the Unstructured augmentation, select Unstructured extraction from the left navigation pane.
  2. Under One Time Upload, in the Upload and extract section, select Proceed. The Upload & select target tab is displayed.

    1. In the Upload a file section, upload the document that you want to process.
    2. Turn on the Use OCR for scanned/handwritten documents toggle if the document is scanned, handwritten, or contains images. Otherwise, turn it off. By default, this is turned off.
    3. Optionally, under Select an Existing Template, in the Template field, select a published extraction template.

The template determines the target tenant and defines how Unstructured augmentation extracts and maps the document data. If you select a template, its OCR setting is applied and you cannot change the Use OCR for scanned/handwritten documents toggle.

    4. Under Select target tenant , in the Target field, select the tenant to receive the extracted data from the document. This field is disabled when you select a template..
  3. Select Next. The Review extraction tab is displayed.

In the left pane, review the uploaded document. In the right pane, review the extracted JSON output and confirm that the extracted values match the document.

  4. Select Next. The Verify entities tab is displayed.

    1. Use File View or JSON View to inspect the source content and extracted structure.
    2. Use Search to find specific values, if needed.
    3. In the Verify entities section on the right pane, review each entity card. Confirm the entity type, mapped attribute count, and confidence value for each entity.
    4. On the entity card, select Verify to display the mapping details.
    5. In the mapping details, confirm that each field in the EXTRACTED FIELD KEY column is mapped to the correct attribute in the RELTIO ATTRIBUTES column.
    6. Review the VALUES column to make sure the extracted content is correct and complete.
    7. Review the CONFIDENCE column to see how certain Unstructured augmentation is about each mapped value.
    8. Optionally, expand a row to see its additional mapped content.
    9. If a mapping is incorrect, select a different Reltio attribute for the field in the RELTIO ATTRIBUTES column.
    10. Select Verify attributes to to confirm that you have verified the attributes and mappings for the entity type.
  5. Select Next. The Review and Push tab is displayed.

    1. In the Review details section, confirm the values of Uploaded file, Reused template, Target tenant, and Entities extracted.
    2. Under the Create extracted entities in a tenant section, in the Source field, select the crosswalk representing the document's source system.
  6. Select Process to create the extracted entities in the target tenant and open the run in Pipeline executions.

Result

Unstructured augmentation parses the uploaded document, extracts and maps its data, and pushes the mapped entities and relationships to the target tenant.

Verification steps

To confirm that the document was processed successfully, perform the following steps:

  1. On the Pipeline executions page, confirm that the execution completed successfully. For more information, see Review pipeline executions.

  2. Review the extracted entities associated with the document.

  3. Select an extracted entity to view its details in Reltio MDM.
