Workflow

A workflow is a series of sequential steps or tasks that are carried out based on user-defined rules or conditions to execute a business process.

In the Reltio platform, the Workflow allows you to manage complex business processes through a series of predetermined steps or tasks. For more information, see Workflow Tasks.

An example of a step can be a user task assigned to users for Review and Approval of the data change request. A Workflow for a Data Change Request (DCR) includes the following sequence of steps:
  1. On the profile page in Hub, users can initiate the DCR workflow process in the Suggesting mode.
  2. The Reviewer can Approve or Reject the DCR.
    1. If the Reviewer approves the DCR, the change request is accepted using the Reltio API and the task is marked complete.
    2. If the Reviewer rejects the DCR, the change request is rejected using the Reltio API and the task is marked complete.

The DCR Review Workflow image explains the initiation of a DCR review process.

From a business user's perspective, a workflow is initiated (manually or automatically) for one or multiple profiles. As a user assigned to the task, you can either review the proposed changes or enter a comment.

Reltio Connected Data Platform uses the Workflow to enable processes and tasks management, including the assignment and tracking of the tasks. A workflow process supports a creator, a create date, a due date, an assignee, steps, and comments.

By default, Workflow is not enabled for all the tenants. For more information, please open a support ticket.

Workflow business processes are configurable. For more information, see Overview of Workflow Customizations.

The various actors and triggers in a workflow are as follows:

  • Actors: The people and processes that participate in the workflow are the actors. For example, Reviewer, Workflow Engine, Hub, and Reltio API.
  • Reviewer: The user will be assigned with the role ROLE_REVIEWER.
  • Trigger: It is a scheduled process that scans activity logs to initiate a review workflow. For example, from the Reltio UI, you can start a Data Change Request workflow to review the updates or the changes to the entities or the profiles data in your tenant.
Note: We do not have scheduled process that starts DCR workflow processes automatically.

Reltio Connected Data Platform supports default workflows available for the tenants. For more information, see Workflow Use Cases.
