Configure and enable RDM Autopilot

Learn how to configure and enable RDM Autopilot so that you can automate the resolution of unmapped values using defined thresholds, modes, and rules.

RDM Autopilot (Intelligent Mapping) allows you to automate the resolution of unmapped values based on configurable rules and thresholds. To use this feature effectively, you need to define how Autopilot evaluates values, when it should take action, and what level of automation is appropriate for their organization.

The configuration involves enabling the feature, selecting an operating mode, setting similarity thresholds and defining frequency requirements. These settings ensure that Autopilot applies automation in a controlled and consistent manner.

The following table summarizes the key configuration areas required to set up and use RDM Autopilot.

Configuration AreaPurpose
Enable AutopilotActivates Autopilot processing
Select Operating ModeControls whether Autopilot runs in Preview or Active mode
Configure ThresholdsDefines when mappings are auto-created or suggested
Set Frequency RulesEnsures actions are based on repeated occurrences
Review SuggestionsAllows stewards to approve or reject mappings

After completing these configurations, Autopilot starts monitoring transcode failures and processes unmapped values in the background.

Enable Autopilot

To Enable Autopilot, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Reference Data Management in the Reltio user interface.
  2. Open the Autopilot configuration page.
  3. Turn on the Enable Autopilot option.
  4. Select the operating mode that you want to use (Preview mode or Active mode).
  5. Save the configuration to apply the changes.

After you enable RDM Autopilot, it begins monitoring transcode operations and tracks unmapped values generated across sources. The system processes these values in the background and evaluates them based on the configured thresholds, and frequency rules. Depending on the configuration, Autopilot automatically creates mappings or generates suggestions for review without impacting transcode performance.

The following image shows the Enable Autopilot option and operating mode settings on the Autopilot configuration page.

Note:
  • When enabling Autopilot for the first time, keep it in Preview mode for a period appropriate to your tenant size so it can learn your data patterns. Disabling Autopilot clears this learning and requires it to restart when re-enabled. If you want to temporarily stop changes, do not disable Autopilot, switch from Active to Preview mode instead. You can switch back to Active at any time without any waiting period.
  • When you disable Autopilot (globally or for a specific lookup type), it clears the learned data for that scope. When you enable it again, it starts fresh. Keep Autopilot in Preview mode for a period appropriate to your tenant size.

Autopilot modes

Autopilot supports two operating modes that control how it handles unmapped values.

ModeBehavior
PreviewAutopilot evaluates unmapped values and generates statistics for review, but it does not create mappings automatically.
ActiveAutopilot evaluates unmapped values and can automatically create mappings or lookup values when configured thresholds and frequency rules are met.

Select an Autopilot mode

  1. Open the Autopilot configuration page.
  2. Locate the Operating mode setting.
  3. Select Preview mode or Active mode.
  4. Save the configuration.

The following image shows where to select Preview mode or Active mode in the Autopilot configuration page.

Configure Autopilot Thresholds

You can configure thresholds that determine when Autopilot automatically creates mappings or generates suggestions.

To configure the Autopilot thresholds, follow the below steps:

  1. Open the Autopilot configuration page.
  2. Locate the Mapping Thresholds section.
  3. Enter the desired values for the automatic mapping and suggestion thresholds.
  4. Review the configuration settings.
  5. Save the configuration.

The following table lists the threshold settings that control automatic mapping, suggestions, and misspelling detection.

Table 1. Threshold Settings
ParameterDescriptionDefault values
Automatic Mapping ThresholdMinimum similarity score required for automatic mapping0.90
Suggestion ThresholdMinimum score required to generate a DCR0.75
Misspelling detection Minimum fuzzy score used to detect misspellings0.70

The following image shows the Mapping Thresholds section where automatic mapping, suggestion, and misspelling detection thresholds are configured.

Create Lookup values automatically

Autopilot automatically creates new lookup values when no suitable match exists and the configured threshold is met.

To enable automatic lookup creation, follow the below steps:

  1. Open the Autopilot configuration page.
  2. Locate the Mapping Thresholds section.
  3. Set the Create Lookup Threshold to the desired value.
  4. Set Suggest Lookup Threshold to generate suggestions instead of automatic creation.
  5. Save the configuration.

When enabled, Autopilot evaluates unmapped values against existing lookups. If no match meets the required criteria and the confidence score satisfies the Create Lookup Threshold, Autopilot creates a new lookup value automatically.

If the confidence score meets the Suggest Lookup Threshold but not the create Lookup threshold, Autopilot generates a suggestion for review. If the score does not meet either threshold, no action is taken.

The following image shows the lookup creation threshold settings used to control when Autopilot creates or suggests new lookup values.

Review Suggested Mappings

When Autopilot generates suggestions, data stewards can review and take action.

You can review suggested mappings in either of the following ways:

Option 1: Review suggested mappings from the Autopilot Dashboard
  1. Open the Autopilot Dashboard.
  2. Go to the Mappings suggested tab.
  3. Select a suggestion to review details.
  4. Review the candidate mapping and supporting information.
  5. Approve or reject the suggestion.

Option 2: Review suggested mappings from a lookup type workflow

  1. Open Reference Data Management.
  2. Navigate to the required lookup type.
  3. Open the side panel for workflows.
  4. Review the DCRs (suggestions) listed.
  5. Approve or reject the suggestion.

The following table describes the details available for each suggested mapping.

Create Lookup Values from Suggestions

Autopilot will either create a new lookup automatically or generate suggestions for new lookup creation based on the thresholds configured.

To create a lookup value from a suggestion, follow the below steps:

  1. Open on the lookup suggested tab in the dashboard.
  2. Review the recommended lookup value.
  3. Confirm that the value should be added.
  4. Approve the suggestion.
  5. Confirm the action.

The following table describes the result of approving or rejecting a lookup value suggestion.

ApproveNew lookup value is created
RejectSuggestion is discarded

Monitor Autopilot Activity

You can monitor Autopilot performance using the Autopilot dashboard.

To monitor Autopilot activity, follow the below steps:

  1. Go to Reference Data Management.
  2. Open the Autopilot Dashboard.
  3. Review metrics and insights.
  4. Use filters to analyze specific lookup types.

The following table describes the dashboard metrics available for monitoring Autopilot activity.

Table 5. Dashboard Metrics
