Export entities and relationships

Learn how to export entities and relationships by using the Export application in the Console.

  1. From the Tenant Management section, select the Export application.
Note: Alternatively, you can use the top menu in a Console to open the Export application.

  2. Select Tenant.

  3. For the selected tenant, the Export home page lists all Pending (In Progress) and Completed (Finished and Failed) jobs. The Pending and Completed job list show the following details:
    • Job creator
    • Job name
    • Status
    • Duration
    • Job start or end details

  4. Select a job to view the details of any pending or completed export job.
  5. Select + New Export Job button at the top. The Create a new export page lists the Entity Types and Relationships available in your tenant configuration.
Note: By default, none of the Entity Types or Relationships are selected.
  6. In the Entity types section:
    1. Select the Sort and Filter icon () to sort the Entity Types in the order of Name or Number of Attributes.
    2. Select the appropriate option under Filter By in the Sort and Filter icon to view only non-abstract entities or all entities.
Note: By default, only the non-abstract entities are displayed.
    3. You can also create a new export job in two steps:
      • Select the entities or relationships that you want to export and give the job details.
Note: You can optionally apply filters to specify the date range for the export job.
      • Select the Entity types that you want to export. The Selected attributes column displays the number of attributes selected for the entity type.
        • If you select an Entity Type, the Select attributes panel appears. It displays all the attributes related to the selected entity type. The attributes appear selected or deselected based on the entity type that you've selected.
        • If you select the entity type icon, the attributes appear selected in the Select attributes panel.
          Note:
          • By default, the attributes aren’t selected if you select the entity type row to select the entity type.
          • By default, the Select attributes panel displays only the non-hidden attributes. You can use the Sort and Filter icon to change your preference.
          • You can select/deselect all attributes at once by selecting or deselecting the Attribute name checkbox () (first checkbox under the Search column).
          • Select the Unselect all items option to unselect the attributes, and select only the attributes that you want to export.
          • In the Select attributes pane, select the Sort and Filter icon () to select any one of the four available filter options.
          • If no value is present for the selected attribute in the extracted data, it won't be exported and its header won't be added to the export file.
      • Depending on your needs, you can view only the non-hidden attributes, only the required attributes, only the analytics attributes, or all the attributes (irrespective of their hidden/required/analytics status).

  7. Select the Relationships that you want to export.

  8. You can use the Sort icon to sort the relationships in the order of relationship’s name or the number of attributes.
  9. Select Continue on the top-right corner. Alternatively, you can select Filter.
  10. Specify the date range for which you want to export the data set.
All the records for the selected Entity Types and Relationships that were modified between the specified date range are exported. The types of changes include all crosswalk, entity, group, interaction, relationship and match changes.
  11. Select the From and To dates from the month calendar.
  12. Select Continue. The Job Details screen appears.
  13. Specify a relevant name for the export job.
The system specifies a combination of date and time as the default job name. For example: Untitled Export Job...Date and Time.
  14. For an Entity Type, the following options are available:
    1. Select the Export Operation Values (OV) only option to export only those attribute values that were selected by the survivorship rules.
    2. Select Search by OV to search only by Operation Values.
  15. For a Relationship, the following options are available:

    1. Select the Export Operation Values (OV) only option to export only those attribute values that were selected by the survivorship rules.
    2. Select Search by OV to search only by Operation Values.
    3. Select Resolve Merged Entities to receive the winner URI of start/end objects in the relationship.
    4. Select Resolve Relation Edge Types to receive entity type of the start/end objects in the relationship.
  16. Select CSV Flattened, CSV Exploded or JSON as the File Format of the exported files.
Note: In case you want to use small data sets and process the output files manually, you may want to produce a single output file as the result of your export task.
  17. Select the Produce a single output file checkbox to create a single output file.
  18. Select Run to start the export job. While the export job runs, it’s listed in the Pending jobs list as an In Progress job. After the job is over, it’s listed in the Completed jobs list on the Export page.

  19. On completion of the export job, Console sends you an email notification. It includes a link to the exported data. You can select the link to download the exported files until the validity mentioned in the email.
