The New Search experience for Connected Customer 360

For a full Connected Customer 360 experience, the ability to quickly search across millions of customer profiles that contain hundreds of attributes including calculated and analytical attributes in the quickest and most-efficient manner is extremely critical. We have revised our Search experience for smarter visual segmentation of our customer data.

Let us take an example of Debbie, who wants to find a segment of consumers quickly for a premium anti-ageing cream that they are launching, so she can share this list with her marketing team.

When Debbie first logs in, she sees the banner at the top that notifies her about the New search experience. She can choose to continue using the Classic mode or switch to the New mode. Once she clicks on the New mode, she can start leveraging the enhanced Search experience.

In the New enhanced Search experience, the page is laid out in three main areas:
  • The left-most panel is where you can quickly build your search criteria with visual data distribution for a more guided and contextual experience.
  • The center panel is where you can see the Search Results.
  • The top-right side is where you can take actions over your search results.

Also located at the toolbar, you can access your Saved and Recent Searches. If you need to build highly complex queries, you can go to the Advanced Search which now supports AND/OR conditions.

Since Debbie has already built a similar search query in the past, she starts with a Saved search. In Saved Searches, she can select one of her previously saved searches. She can also use one of her Recent searches to access historical search queries. In this scenario, Debbie wants to view one of her saved searches and further filter down to get the results she needs. Upon clicking on a Saved search, Debbie sees that her search query has been preserved and now she can quickly input the values she wants to filter on. She can always add additional attributes to her query. As you can see in the menu list, it shows Recommended attributes at the top, followed by Entity-type specific attributes and finally, Basic attributes that are common to all entity types. Or, she can also leverage the Recommended attributes at the bottom, which displays attributes based on our recommendation engine and shows attributes that are most relevant to Debbie as a user and her role. These facets are dynamic and change based on her previous selections. We are leveraging Machine Learning techniques like Classification, Grouping, and Categorization.

In this case, Debbie wants to filter on the age attribute as she is concerned about an anti-ageing cream. In the Search Results section, she can view the details in a List view or in a Table format. If she wants to add new columns in the Search results table view, she can easily do that. She can add/remove columns, or reorder the columns by dragging and dropping it to her desired location. She can also sort these columns. In addition, she can also contextually add columns next to an existing column.

You can use the Map view to display the locations of the profiles. Profile locations are displayed as pin drops in the map. You can use the Search as I move and Polygon Search features to move the map around, or, draw a polygon; and your search results are displayed based on the map in real-time. The Profile view displays the profile details.

Now that she has her segment of records or data that she wanted over the master data that exists beneath, she can share the Search Results with others. She can either just share it with herself privately or share it with others. She can use the Export capability to share the details as a CSV file or share it in a location from where it can be consumed by other systems.

As in the real world, the requirements change quite often and if Debbie needs to create an even more complex search query, she can utilize our Advanced Search capabilities. We have enhanced the Advanced Search capabilities significantly to support complex criteria like grouping and adding ‘And/Or’ conditions.

In the Advanced Search we have provided a guided experience that allows Debbie to only search on attributes that are relevant to the entity type she selected. This ensures that Debbie gets the accurate results she needs. We have also added a Search query summary at the bottom of the panel to allow Debbie to validate her search query or copy it to the clipboard to share it with others. The Advanced Search provides contextual options that allow Debbie to duplicate the entire set and move things around by changing the values. She can switch the search criteria and add an ‘And’ condition between sets. She can add new segments, duplicate segments or delete a segment. At every level, there are conditions like ‘And’, ‘Or’, “And not’, and, ‘Or not’. These functionalities will allow you to build extremely complex queries on top of your data.

Once Debbie finishes defining her search query, she can minimize this panel. So she can have more real estate to view her search results. Additionally, if she wants to focus on her search query, she can make this panel full screen.

These enhancements aim to improve productivity and we will continue to enhance the Search feature.

The Search functionality has been enhanced in the following ways:

  • Streamlined Search landing experience for guided navigation. The Search layout is designed to enable quick searches through - Recent searches, Saved searches and Quick Filters.
  • Introduced Recent searches so you can quickly access your past search queries. In addition, we have fine-tuned our Saved search for better usability.
  • Powered the Quick Filters with an inbuilt ML-based recommendation engine that will guide you with the search attributes that are most relevant to you.
  • Ensured that the Quick Filters act as an Explorer, where you can graphically view data distribution to guide your search queries.
  • Enabled Advanced Search to support And/Or conditions and advanced concepts like Grouping for creating more sophisticated queries.

To enhance your experience, the Search Results are now displayed in an advanced table view. This view has many usability improvements like the ease of dragging, dropping and rearranging columns, adding new columns, sorting/filtering the results and providing Type-ahead search and more. Several usability enhancements have been added to provide a superior search experience to you.
