Accelerate the Value of Data

Sources Perspective

Learn about the various sources and crosswalks for a profile.

In the Profiles page, the Sources perspective enables you to manage data sources. These data sources are used to determine the records responsible for determining the Operational Values (OV) for Profile attributes.

In the Sources perspective, you can view and manage the source data and associated crosswalk information.

The Sources perspective displays a color coded sources grid that displays the following information:

  • Attributes and Operational Value
  • Winner Source System
  • Rule Type
  • Count
  • Attribute values

The Show/Hide columns option enables you to select the columns that must be displayed in this perspective. Reltio saves these preferences and the next time you login, the columns are displayed as per your saved preferences.

You can also view these details for specific rulesets. A ruleset is a set of survivorship rules that is assigned to a specific role. You can only view those rulesets that are accessible to the roles assigned to you. The default ruleset is selected by default but you can select any other ruleset from the dropwdown to view the OV and rules corresponding to the selected ruleset. For more information, see topic Ruleset Configuration and View operational values for a ruleset.

Attributes and Operational Value

This column displays the attribute's labels and operational values. The Operational Value is a dynamic value calculated in real-time, which is based on Survivorship Rules. Expanding the arrow adjacent to the OV will display the nested attributes for the value.

Winner Source System

An attribute value can be found in different source systems. Among them, one source system emerges as a winner or survivor based on the applicable rule type. For more information, see Survivorship Rule Types.
Note: In case of Aggregation rule type, the winner source systems are shown in the order of attribute values.
The winner source system, the attribute value, and crosswalks in the right panel use the same color coding scheme to indicate that they represent the same source system. When you hover over the source system, the attribute values of the same source system are also highlighted.

Rule Type

This column displays the Survivorship rule used to determine the Operational Value of the attribute.

Count

This column displays the number of source values for the attribute.

Attribute Values

This column displays the source values for the attribute. These are color coded to indicate the source system to which it belongs. In case of nested attributes, expand the arrow next to the attribute value to view the sub-attributes. When you hover over an attribute value, the other attribute values from the same crosswalk are also highlighted. You can add attribute values by dragging a crosswalk and dropping it into the Attribute Values column or by clicking the +ATTRIBUTE link in the Sources perspective. For more information, see Add Attributes in the Sources Perspective.

Each attribute value is color-coded to indicate the crosswalk to which it belongs. In case of nested attributes, you will see colored circles next to the nested attribute to indicate the crosswalks it belongs to. See an example below:

You can also easily find out if a nested attribute belongs to a deleted crosswalk. Instead of a colored circle, a deleted crosswalk is represented with a hollow circle. See the image below:

Interaction Types

For each of these attribute values, the following actions are available:
ActionIconDescription
Pin Enables you to override the operational value with the original source value.
Note: You can pin attributes whose values are auto-generated from a sequence generator. For more information, see topic Autogenerated IDs in an entity.
Ignore
Enables you to ignore the source value.
Note: You can ignore attributes whose values are auto-generated from a sequence generator. For more information, see topic Autogenerated IDs in an entity.
FocusHighlights the attribute values that belong to the same source system. In the example, when you click on the Focus icon for Western Sahara (EH), it keeps this attribute value highlighted all the time. Simultaneously, it also keeps all attribute values belonging to the same source system also highlighted.
EditThis option enables you to edit an attribute value.
  • If the attribute value is a drop-down or a lookup field, the available options are displayed when you edit the attribute. You can select the required option.
  • If the attribute value is an entry field, you can edit the field and change it as required.
Delete This option enables you to delete the attribute value for the entity.
