The ControllingParty entity type records who steers an Organization when ownership does not explain it. A party holding no shares can still direct a company through board representation, a voting proxy, a veto right, or a management contract, and regulators require that influence to be reported whether or not equity changes hands. The ControllingParty entity type is a relationship modeled as an entity, so the arrangement carries its own dates, evidence, and review status.
