The BeneficialOwner entity type records who ultimately owns or controls an Organization, and on what evidence. It is a relationship modeled as an entity so the stake itself can be dated, verified, sourced, and disputed independently of either party, which is what AML and KYC review needs. Ownership chains are traversed through repeated BeneficialOwner records to reach the ultimate beneficial owner.
