Set up AWS Lambda connections for LCAs

Learn how to use the self-service setup in Reltio Console to create an AWS connection for Lifecycle Actions.

The self-service setup in Reltio Console lets you connect your AWS account for AWS Lambda-based Lifecycle Actions (LCAs). Use the self-service setup to submit your AWS IAM role details, wait for the Reltio role to be created, update the trust policy in AWS, and apply the tenant configuration.

Prerequisite

Before you begin, make sure that you have access to Reltio Console and permission to manage LCAs for your tenant. You must also have permission in AWS to create or update IAM roles and policies in the account where your Lambda functions run.

Ensure that you have a strong understanding of AWS S3, AWS Lambda, AWS CloudWatch, Java, Maven, and the Reltio API and configuration.

Check the concurrency limit on your AWS Lambda function to avoid LCA failures. For more information, see Understanding Lambda function scaling.

To set up an AWS Lambda connection for LCAs
  1. In Reltio Console, open Tenant management and select Lifecycle Actions.

If no connection exists yet, the page displays the onboarding state with the steps to set up the connection and create your first LCA.

  2. Select Create connection, and then select AWS.
  3. Follow the instructions in the Setup connection - AWS Lambda page, to prepare your AWS environment.

  4. Enter the AWS connection details in the AWS Details section.
    Enter the following details:
    • AWS Account ID
    • Customer IAM Role ARN
    • AWS Region
    • External ID (optional)

The wizard also shows the Reltio role name that will be created for the tenant.

  5. Select Submit request.

The request is submitted for asynchronous processing.

Depending on the current state, the wizard can show statuses such as Waiting for approval, Reltio role created, or Request rejected .

If the request is still being processed, you can leave the page and return later.

  6. Select the checkbox that confirms the previous instructions were followed and the trust policy was saved.

The wizard also shows a preview of the tenant configuration that will be applied after validation succeeds.

  7. Select Validate Trust Policy & Apply Configuration.

Reltio validates that it can assume the AWS IAM role by using the configured trust relationship.

If validation succeeds, the tenant physical configuration is applied automatically.

If validation fails, update the trust policy in AWS and retry the validation step.

  8. In the Lifecycle Actions select Manage Connections.

A side panel opens and you can review the details of the current connection.

You can also select the Edit icon to edit the connection, or select the Delete icon to delete the connection.

Note: When you edit a connection you can only edit the External ID.
Note: If you delete a connection, it may take up to 3 hours to finish the process. You'll be able to create a new connection once it's complete.

Result

The AWS connection for Lifecycle Actions is created for the tenant. You can now manage the connections you created.

After the connection is available, you can create and manage LCAs in Reltio Console. For more information, see Create an LCA in Reltio Console.
