Managing Validation Functions

Data Validation Function provides you the ability to configure data quality rules that evaluate your data in real-time.

The Data Validation Functions Editor in Reltio console helps in managing validation functions for the tenant and also provides an intuitive function builder to transform business requirements into data validation functions.

The Validate functions page in Data Modeler allows you to perform any of the following tasks:
  • Validate attributes
  • Edit or Delete a validation function
  1. Click the Data Modeler application in Console. From the landing page (Entity types), select an Entity type by clicking on it.
  2. Click the VALIDATION FUNCTIONS tab.
Note: The validation functions editor will only work for entity types that have the data validation function enabled. For more information about enabling validation functions, see Enabling Data Validation Function.
  3. In the Validation functions screen, you can change the status of any validation function in the Active column. You can also choose to sort by Attribute, Display name, Last modified by, Last modified date or Active.
Note: By default, the table is sorted by the Display Name and appears in the descending order.
  4. To modify the details of an existing validation function, click the Edit (pen) icon in the Details panel.

Validating Attributes

This task is recommended after edits are made to the validation function.

To run the revalidate job, click the Validate Attributes link in the Validation functions page.

Clicking the Validate Attributes link opens up the Tenant Management application in a new tab so you can create a new job. For more information, see Creating a Revalidate Job.

Creating a new Validation Function

To create a new validation function, perform the following steps:
  1. Click the Create New button in the Validation functions page.

  2. In the Create new validation function page, select the attribute you want to validate from the Attribute drop-down.

  3. In the Name field, specify a name that would be displayed in the Hub/MDM UI. Enter the description of the function in the Description field.
  4. Choose to activate the function by using the Active button.
  5. Use the Function builder to define the conditions. The Validation function summary field displays a simple representation of the function you are creating using the editor.
    • In the ADVANCED EDITOR, use the backslash symbol in your function to escape regular expressions (regex) characters. For example, regexp(attributes.FirstName.value, '.*(.)\\1{3,}.*').
    • You can switch to the advanced editor by clicking the SWITCH TO ADVANCED EDITOR link. For more information about defining validation function jobs, see Defining Validation Function.
  6. Click Save to save the new validation function. For more information about running validation function jobs, see Creating a Revalidate Job.
