Export and import the metadata security configuration

Learn how to export and import metadata security configurations in CSV format to review permission rules, collaborate on changes, and manage bulk updates.

The Metadata Security application in Reltio Console allows you to export and import permission rules in CSV format. You can export your existing configuration to share with your team, collaborate on permission changes, or make bulk updates outside Console. After editing the CSV file, you can import it back into the application to review and apply the changes.

If you're new to metadata security or building your permission configuration from scratch, you can download a CSV template to understand the required structure and prepare new permission rules.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you meet the following requirements:

You have access to the Metadata Security application in Reltio Console.
You have selected the appropriate tenant and environment in Reltio Console.
For importing permissions, you have a CSV file containing the permission rules you want to add or update.

To export the metadata security configuration

Log in to Reltio.
The Hub appears.
Select the Applications icon, and select Console.
The Console appears.
In the Security section, select Metadata Security.
The Metadata Security page appears, displaying Manage Security Config by default.
Select the Download icon.
Select either of the following options:
- Download template: Downloads a sample CSV file containing the required columns and example permission rules. Use this template to understand the CSV structure or build a permission configuration from scratch.
  Before importing the CSV file, replace ROLE_EXAMPLE with the appropriate role names and add the required permission rules.
- Download configuration: Downloads the existing permission configuration as a CSV file. You can share this file with your team to review or edit permission rules and prepare bulk updates.
The selected CSV file is downloaded.

To import the metadata security configuration

On the Manage Security Config page, select the Upload icon.

The Import permissions CSV dialog box appears.
Select Choose file... and upload the CSV file containing your permission changes.
The dialog box displays the selected filename, number of rows, and a preview of the changes compared with the current draft.
In the preview section, review your changes.
The preview displays the number of grants to be added or updated. For each change, you can review the following information:
- Role: The role associated with the permission rule.
- Resource path: The resource affected by the permission rule.
- Before: The existing access permissions.
- After: The access permissions defined in the imported CSV file.
Select Apply to draft.
The imported permission changes are added to the current draft.

To save the imported changes

On the Manage Security Config page, select Save Changes.
The Save changes dialog box appears.
Review the pending changes and select Save.

Result

The exported CSV file is available for reviewing or editing permission rules outside Console. After importing and saving a modified CSV file, the application updates the tenant's security configuration with the imported permission changes.
